tricking or trickz is a martial art that combines
different acrobatics from taekwondo, gymnastics, capoeira and breakdance.

The origin of tricking is attributed to the artistic kata and the development of acrobatic figures made in kata .

In about ten years the discipline has evolved strongly and acrobatic gymnastics has influenced the practice of sport.

Two great currents today mark the Tricking: "kicks" and "acrobatics".

These define the style of a practitioner and it is the combination of the two that distinguishes Tricking from other acrobatic or martial sports mentioned above.

Introduction to different formats :

There are several event formats:

The first format is the "Battle", like hip-hop, where opponents compete through the performance of combos or special figures.

They are judged on the difficulty of the realized figures, their charisma and are sanctioned on falls and imbalances.

The second format of competition is the "artistic kata".

It is a martial choreography performed with or without music.

The trickzeur must create his own artistic work and execute it in front of a jury.

He is judged on his ability to combine aerial figures, combos and precision in the performance of the whole choreography.

It is also sanctioned in case of fall or imbalance.

The third format is "Gathering" , or gathering. The trickzers meet on one or more days in a common place.

They train together and sometimes integrate elements of competition during these gatherings.

These gatherings can be of different sizes: just within a city, national or even international. The biggest gatherings made are Giga Gathering, Loopkicks Camp and Hooked.

The Battles

The Battles come in many forms.

Some are limited in time, for example a minute, or two, and so on.

The participants are then completely free of their actions during the allotted time.

At the end of the clock, the judges make their decision. This is often the case during team battles, in 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 or more.

During individual Battles, other types of Battle exist.

Especially in some French competitions, competitors have a limited number of passages, such as 2 or 3 combos. A variation also appeared where these passages were conditioned: only a kick, only a hook, only a combo.

At the level of judgment, the vote is most often by a show of hands. The jury, odd, gives its opinion on the winner.

The participant who wins the most votes wins the match.

In some cases, the judges are able to give a tie to the competitors. Usually they are then decided on a final passage .

In other competitions such as the Red Bull Throwdown, judges score from 1 to 10 and each judge scores only one battles criterion.

The result depends on the judgment of the judges.

In a rational way, they compare the performances according to several criteria: the level of performance of the realized figures, their diversity (like the balance between acrobatics and kicks), their technicality (the links or translations) and their execution (fluidity).

Added to this are the charisma and the trickster's attitude, as well as the absence of falls or imbalances. As sport is evolving and indefinite, judgments are still subjective and controversial .

In the battles, both alone and in a team, there can be a great deal of provocation in order to destabilize the opponent.
